During Your Stay

Arrival: When you arrive at the surgical center, please park in front of the building. Arrive at the time specified by the nurse. The time before your surgery allows us to get you ready for your procedure. Our center does not open until 6:00am. Please bring your driver’s license and insurance card(s).

After Admission: After you have completed check in you will be taken to your own private room. You will have a chance to speak with your surgeon prior to your surgery. When it’s time for surgery, a surgical nurse will take you to the operating suite. Your family will wait for you in the main lobby. The amount of time in surgery will depend on your particular procedure. After surgery you will return to your room. The nurses will monitor your recovery and care for you until your condition allows for your family/friends to join you. Your surgeon will talk to your family members on your progress immediately after surgery.

Discharge: When your condition meets the discharge criteria of your physician and the center, you will be prepared for discharge. It is usually about 30 minutes after your procedure for endoscopic procedures and 1-2 hours for surgical procedures. Your nurse will review home care instructions with you and your family/friend/driver. You will be given information about your specific diet, activity, medications, dressing, pain, follow-up visit, returning to working, hygiene and lifting. You MUST have a responsible adult to drive you home from the surgical center and remain with you for 24 hours after your surgery.
